It runs through everything we do, from homes styled for sale to commercial fit-outs, interiors made to be lived in, and spaces built for the camera. 16 years and thousands of interiors on, it is still the whole point.
An interior is felt before it is understood. Someone walks into a room and decides, in seconds, how it makes them feel, long before they take in the detail, and that feeling shapes everything after. Whether a buyer is weighing up a home, a brand is building a campaign, or you are settling into a space to live in, the work is the same. We compose interiors, grounded in the architecture and the story a space is trying to tell, so the right feeling lands the moment someone walks in.
Residence is Tam and Jac. Both come from backgrounds in fashion and textiles, and between them an eye for styling, proportion, colour and the details that change how a space is seen. We have always been drawn to furniture, art and objet, to the way a well-chosen piece earns its place through both function and beauty, and how the right one can lift an entire room.
We began in 2010 as Styling Properties, styling homes across Melbourne, the peninsulas and Geelong. More than 4,800 homes later, the name caught up with the work: Residence Melbourne. Same founders, same team, and a standard that keeps rising.
16 years on, that instinct runs through everything we touch, homes styled for sale, procurement and commercial fit-outs, interiors made to live in, and collaborations with the brands we love. The feeling a space leaves behind is personal to us, and it is why clients come back to us again and again.
Our signature is calm. Considered, warm, uncluttered interiors where nothing fights for attention. It is a look, and it is also a decision, grounded in how spaces affect us.
The research is clear. A calm, ordered interior lowers stress, settles the mind and lifts mood. So we design for how a room makes you feel as much as how it looks, because the two are the same thing. A space that feels calm is one people want to stay in, live in, and buy into.
